offered to mid-level managers over a period of five years, 2009-2013. The participants will represent all ACF regions, and trainings will be held in Denver, New York City, Dallas, Seattle and Philadelphia. A total of 15 five-day training events will occur over five years. In Year 5, a modified 3-day version of the training will be offered to managers in state and county training positions, so that LAMM training can be incorporated into ongoing child welfare training infrastructures, thus building the capacity of the states to continue leadership training well after this project ends.

    LAMM Objectives
    • Increase the effectiveness of child welfare agencies through culturally responsive middle manager training on leadership, workforce development and succession planning
    • Provide middle managers with professional development that enables them to address persistent complex challenges requiring adaptive, distributive, and inclusive leadership
    • Provide opportunities that facilitate continuous learning in support of both middle managers and their internal and external partners
    • Offer managers the latest research and new directions for child welfare practice, leadership, and management, from academic, private, and nonprofit sectors

    Target Audience
LAMM training will be offered to the following child welfare middle managers: State or Tribal, central office, regional, district and county child welfare administrators and assistant directors; managers employed at the State/central/regional offices that provide support to local child welfare offices; State and Tribal child welfare program managers; training managers; and program directors at private agencies that are contracted by the State to provide case management services that are traditionally provided by the public child welfare system.

    LAMM Advisory Council
This Council meets quarterly via telephone or web conferencing to advise the LAMM team on marketing, curriculum content, and nominations and selections of participants.
