Introduction to Leadership and Workforce Development

This course is a series of three modules that together provide research-based foundational knowledge, language, frameworks, and approaches to strengthen leadership effectiveness in child welfare. The first module, Leadership Foundations, describes NCWWI’s Leadership Competency Framework and explores different leadership styles that can help leaders navigate the complexity of child welfare. The second and third modules provide an orientation to NCWWI’s Workforce Development Framework which gives leaders promising and evidence-supported approaches for building the capacity of their child welfare workforce. Workforce Development Framework Part 1 presents an framework for implementing workforce development systems change, and Part 2 focuses on the components of a healthy workforce. It is part of a pre-requisite curriculum for individuals and teams engaged with NCWWI Workforce Excellence Sites and by all NCWWI Leadership Academy participants.
