Grief in Transition Aged Youth
This webinar is hosted by Community Technical Assistance Center (CTAC) and the Managed Care Technical Assistant Center (MCTAC)
According to Psychology Today, grief is the acute pain that accompanies loss. We may also think about grief as a process that we participate in when experiencing a loss of any kind. Grief is often overlooked in transition aged youth. Due to the frequency and intensity of change that transition aged youth experience, grief work is an important part of supporting these clients.
This webinar will provide an overview of working with grief in transition aged youth. To begin we will look at different definitions of grief and examine how they offer a framework for grief work. We will define the types of grief transition aged youth may experience and identify examples of each. We will delineate how working with grief in transition aged youth is different than in children and adults. To conclude, we will discuss 3 interventions that can be implemented when supporting transition aged youth through grief.
