Providing Culturally Relevant Services to Families of LGBTQ+ Youth
This webinar is hosted by Center of Excellence
This presentation will dive into what it means to have culturally responsive services and key strategies for working with families of LGBTQ+ young people. Findings from a recent systematic review on cultural adaptations, as well as important insights from SAMHSA’s guide on Adapting Evidence-Based Practices for Under-Resourced Populations, will be shared. Presenters will also discuss case examples from a recent project called the Youth Acceptance Project, which focused on supporting families of LGBTQ+ young people involved in, or at risk to entering, foster care. The Youth Acceptance Project is a clinical intervention built to provide culturally responsive services to families that are experiencing grief, fear, or guilt around their child’s LGBTQ+ identity. The webinar will conclude with a 10-minute Q&A.
